 Marion O’Malley, District Attorney

 

Marion was sworn in as Susquehanna County’s District Attorney on February 5, 2018.

Born in Susquehanna and raised in Montrose, Marion is the youngest daughter of Susquehanna County’s late Judge M. Donald O’Malley and Elizabeth R. O’Malley.

She attended Montrose schools and graduated from the Montrose Area High School. She graduated from Lehigh University with a Bachelors Degree and in 1988 received a Juris Doctor degree from The Dickinson School of Law in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.

Serving as Assistant District Attorney under two previous administrations, Marion had 15 years of experience as a Susquehanna County prosecutor prior to becoming Susquehanna County District Attorney.

 

 Mark Darmofal, Assistant District Attorney

 

Mark was sworn in as the Assistant District Attorney on July 5, 2018.

Born in Scranton and raised in Peckville, Mark is the oldest son of Herman and Donna Darmofal. He graduated from Dickinson College with a Bachelor of Liberal Arts. He obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of Pittsburgh.

He has worked in Susquehanna County since 1999, when he became a Staff Attorney for North Penn Legal Services. He entered private practice in July 2000, concentrating on Family Law and Criminal Defense. From 2001 to 2008 he worked in the Susquehanna County Public Defender’s Office.

 

 Justin Sprout, County Detective

 

Justin was hired in May of 2014 as a Detective with the Susquehanna County District Attorney’s Office. Prior to being hired in the District Attorney’s Office he has been a deputy in the Sheriff’s Office. He has been a police officer for many years and has served with multiple police departments throughout the county and the Susquehanna County Task Force. He has received the necessary training to become the Susquehanna County K9 Officer and is currently serving with his K9 partner Echo.

 

 John Oliver, Chief County Detective

 

John was hired in August of 2017 as a Detective with the Susquehanna County District Attorney’s Office. John is a veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces, having served in the United States Navy’s Submarine Force. John attended Pennsylvania State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. Prior to working for the Office of the District Attorney, John was employed by the Pennsylvania State Police. While employed by the state police, John served as a patrol Trooper, a Criminal Investigator and retired as a supervisor in 2016.

 

 Kathy Ragard, Office Manager / Administrative Assistant

 

Kathy Ragard was hired in November of 1996 and currently serves as the office manager/administrative assistant. She is a graduate of Blue Ridge High School, and currently resides in Great Bend Borough with her husband Bob. Kathy and Bob have 4 children, and one grandchild. Kathy is responsible for all scheduling activities in the office, reviewing budgetary information, coordinating with all the various agencies throughout the county and the Commonwealth and managing the daily activities of the Office.

 

 Lorraine Depew, Administrative Assistant / Grant Coordinator

 

Lorraine Depew was hired in August of 2001 and currently serves as the administrative assistant/grant coordinator for the office. She is a graduate of Mountain View High School, and currently resides in Lenox Township. Lorraine is responsible for many duties in the Office, including preparing criminal informations, sentencing reports, discovery packets, and working on grant applications. Currently, Lorraine is also assisting in the maintenance of this webpage.

 

 Becky Tierney, Victim/Witness Coordinator

 

Becky Tierney was hired in April of 2018 as the Susquehanna County Victim Witness Coordinator. Becky graduated from Blue Ridge High School and received an Associate Degree in Legal Assistant from Central Pennsylvania Business College. She has worked in the legal field locally for 27 years. She currently resides in Hallstead with her husband Ed. They have three children and five grandchildren. Becky is responsible for providing a variety of supportive services to victims and witnesses of crimes and acts as a liaison between victims and the District Attorney.

 

 Echo, K9 Detective

 

Echo is definitely the most popular member of the District Attorney’s Office staff. He is a Pure Bred German Shepherd and currently resides with his handler, Detective Sprout. Echo began training in apprehension, narcotics detection and scent tracking at just 9 weeks old and began active duty at the age of 7 months. He is very busy as he is Susquehanna County’s only K9. In addition to working with the District Attorney’s Office detectives, Echo assists other police departments, fire departments, EMS and the Wyoming County District Attorney’s Office when needed. Echo often gets called out to traffic stops to search vehicles and has also conducted patrols at county schools. Echo enjoys attending community events where he demonstrates his abilities and proves why he is such an important member of the District Attorney’s Office.
