IN-TAKE AND IN-HOME SERVICES
 
Adoption Services – Casework services for parents, placement service for the child, adoptive home studies for the Court, public and private agencies.
 
Child Protective Services – Agency investigates reports of neglect and abuse. Services are provided to children and their families to improve family functioning and to assure children’s safety.
 
Counseling – Counseling and intervention services in crisis situations.
 
Custody Home Studies – As Court ordered.
 
Day Care – Day care provided when determined to be beneficial to a child of the Agency’s client.
 
Day Treatment – Purchased in-school counseling program to prevent or shorten length of placement.
 
Homemaker – Agency homemaker provides teaching services to clients in areas of budgeting, parenting, housekeeping, and childcare to prevent placements.
 
 
SPECIALIZED PROGRAMS
 
Parent/Child Resource Center – Parenting program for pre-school children and their parents, located in Susquehanna Borough, PA.
 
Family Preservation – Counseling services for emergency and crisis situations to prevent placement of children and to improve family functioning.
 
Evening Mobile Parenting Program – 10-12 week parenting education and support for parents of school age children.
 
COMMUNITY BASED PLACEMENTS
 
Emergency Shelter Care – Foster care for emergency placements and runaways.
 
Foster Family Care – A substitute family when a child has to be removed from his or her own home due to issues of abuse and/or neglect.
 
Kinship Care – Placement of child with relatives when parents are unable to care for the child due to issues of abuse and/or neglect.
 
Group Home, Community Based – Purchased placement services for children who need more structure than foster care provides.
 
RESIDENTIAL PLACEMENTS
 
Juvenile Detention – Short-term placement of delinquents in a secure detention facility.
 
Residential – Purchased placement for children/youth who need twenty-four hour supervision and care.
 
Secure Residential – Purchased placement service for delinquents who need secure residential setting.
 
SUSQUEHANNA COUNTY SERVICES FOR CHILDREN AND YOUTH
ADVISORY BOARD
 
This committee, geographically representative of Susquehanna County, makes recommendations for Agency policies, operations and development; advises on development of the Annual Plan and Budget; and distributes funds raised from their annual appeal.
