 POSITION STATUS:  FULL TIME/40 HOURS/NON-UNION


GENERAL POSITION SUMMERY:
The DPS Systems Technician is responsible for assisting the 911 / EMA System administrator with the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all 911 / EOC equipment, server, software, and networking requests. The DPS Systems Technician troubleshoots issues/incidents, recording interactions, regardless of the source (phone call, email, instant message, walk up, etc.), as well as escalations, updates, resolutions, and resolution.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Associates degree in computer science or high school diploma and equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience with PCs, mobile phones, and software support is required.
  • Must be able to maintain a positive attitude and exhibit professionalism while handling support issues.
  • Must be able to work as a member of a team, and work with all Employees and Vendors.
  • Requires strong written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to communicate at different levels of technical acumen.
  • Must have an aptitude for support of PC-based applications and the ability to learn line of business applications, as well as support internally developed applications.
  • Fundamental understanding of LAN/WAN concepts.Ability to provide off-hours support 24/7 as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist with and troubleshoot standard and specialized equipment / software.
  • Assist with server installation and maintenance.
  • Assist with monitoring 911 / EOC systems for potential issues.
  • Assist with monitoring 911 / EOC systems for cybersecurity risks and malicious use.
  • Assist with maintaining backups in accordance with Department, state, and Federal policies.
  • Maintain inventory of equipment and supplies.
  • Assist with troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues in core systems.
  • Develop and maintain good customer relations with all Susquehanna County Personnel while providing communication to appropriate departments and groups regarding system alerts or outages, planned upgrades, restoration activities, and technology asset management.
  • Assist with laptop/tablet/desktop support, including configuration of software/hardware, troubleshooting/repair of software/hardware issues, and support of desktop initiatives and projects, as necessary.
  • Assist with computer software patching and windows updates
  • Assist with radio site maintenance and checks.
  • Maintain the technical competency and proficiency

Physical Requirements
The incumbent must be able to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position in both a normal office environment, as well as possessing the physical acumen to allow them to perform a variety of physical exercises needed to provide network administration including but not limited to standing bending and lifting up to 50 pounds.

Special Requirements:

The incumbent must pass a county background check with no record of criminal convictions.
The incumbent must meet and comply with Susquehanna County’s Employments Policies.
Part of the position functions involves the handling of Confidential Data, disclosure of which is protected by law.
